Records Management
A records classification and retention schedule provides the organizational structure and length of time to keep or dispose of records. We use a functional classification scheme that is based on the functions and activities rather than the subjects or departments.
The retention period may specify authorized destruction, transfer to the Archives for permanent preservation or another institution.
We have based our classification and retention schedule on the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial government guidelines, known as C-RIMS and RRDS, as well as, Qatari legal requirements and Canadian legal requirements, industry standards, and the needs of our University community.
